Lee Roy Selmon blends the merits of football scholarship in his family and the benefits of community service. The first is his relatives. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on an Eufala farm. Second football he was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award as well as the Lombardi award as the top lineman in America. For the three seasons that Roy was a starter, Oklahoma won two National Championships. He received a third scholarship in 1975. He was also designated an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received a diploma as an educator. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during his time in college. After college he settled in Tampa and played for nine seasons with the Buccaneers played the all-pro 3 times, and began a business career. The first job he had was an Account Relations Manager at First Florida Bank, Tampa. He has worked on the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as among the 10 most notable young people in America. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he joined at the University of South Florida's sports department as associate director. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame was named for him in 1998. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame In 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon was the Oklahoma Governor that presented the award.
